As demand grows for real-time, intelligent systems, the cloud is showing its limits. Offloading AI workloads to distant data centers introduces four critical barriers to scale:
 

  • Latency: Every round-trip to the cloud adds delay. Mission-critical systems (from self-driving cars to medical devices) can’t afford this lag – even a few hundred milliseconds can be dangerous or disruptive.
     

  • Privacy & Security: Sending sensitive data (medical records, financial calls, etc.) off-site creates security risks and compliance headaches. For example, voice data streamed to the cloud can violate HIPAA or GDPR regulations. Keeping data on-premise is far safer by design.
     

  • Energy Consumption: AI inference at scale is straining power grids. Cloud AI workloads use 10× more energy than traditional compute – an unsustainable situation. By 2030, AI data centers alone could draw ~3.5% of global electricity. This “power crisis” makes current approaches impractical long-term.
     

  • Cost & Scalability: Cloud AI services are extremely costly at scale – companies spend billions on inference, and those costs are doubling every ~18 months. Scaling up AI means scaling up cloud bills and infrastructure. For many uses, especially always-on or real-time applications, this is prohibitively expensive and hard to scale.
     

Today’s cloud-bound AI is too slow, too power-hungry, too exposed, and too expensive for what’s next.

The shift to edge computing is inevitable — by 2030, over 75% of AI inference will happen on-device. But the hardware to power that future doesn’t exist yet.

Deep-Tech Hardware, Reimagined for AI

Pioneering AI Architecture: Sitaidel has designed a custom chip architecture optimized from the ground up for edge AI inference. It supports 16-bit precision (FP16) and true streaming data processing, with proprietary optimizations that maximize throughput and minimize latency. Unlike many accelerators, our solution requires no model quantization or special compiler—developers can run neural networks in their native form. Sitaidel’s hardware integrates seamlessly with existing AI frameworks and languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, C++), appearing to software as a fast local AI engine. In other words, you can take a state-of-the-art voice or vision model and deploy it on our chip without changing a thing, yet achieve up to 500× faster inference performance compared to running it on a CPU. This new class of hardware is purpose-built for AI, executing neural networks far more efficiently than general processors.

Flexible Form Factors: We deliver this technology in compact hardware modules that fit right into existing systems. Sitaidel’s AI accelerator comes in two versatile form factors – a U.2 module (similar in size to a standard SSD) and a PCIe card – for universal compatibility. Both configurations slide into standard server slots (U.2 drive bays or PCI-Express slots) with zero hassle, making deployment straightforward and cost-efficient. This flexibility means even an entry-level 1U server can get the AI performance of a far larger high-end system simply by adding our module – achieving the throughput of a 2U GPU-packed server with just one U.2 card. In the lab today, our prototype runs on an FPGA-based board (for rapid development), and we are transitioning to a custom ASIC for production. The ASIC will plug into these same slots, instantly upgrading any device or server into an AI powerhouse.
